      <image:title>Cause of the Month - June 2021 - Depression Awareness</image:title>
<image:caption>As winter holds us firmly in its grips, it is completely normal for our moods and motivations to take a hit. For some, though, feelings of sadness or hopelessness are stronger than average, which is when a low mood becomes depression. Depression affects 1 in 7 Australians, with 1 in 6 females and 1 in 8 males experiencing it at some point in their lives. Its prevalence is said to have grown 10 times over the past century, but this alarming rate could be due to reduced stigma and increased open conversations. Conversations around mental health are so important because they normalise and open doors for treatments and support systems. For that reason, we will spend June focussing on depression, featuring information about depression on our Social Media feeds.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Cause of the Month - May 2021 - Mother’s Day - Preventative Health for Mum</image:title>
<image:caption>This Mother’s Day, we would like to thank mums everywhere of all shapes, sizes and ages for their care and guidance. We would not be here without you! We would also like to encourage you to remind mum that sometimes, prevention may be better than cure. There are a range of preventative health activities that is recommended by the Royal College of General Practitioners. For example, if mum is over the age of 50, we should consider: · Getting our heart health checked every 2 years. · Getting blood tests for diabetes every 3 years. · Getting checked for colon and breast cancer every 2 years. · Getting skin checks opportunistically or 6-12 monthly if mum is at high risk. · Getting checked for cervical cancer every 5 years. · Also remember to ask mum “are you okay?” when you get a chance! Happy Mother’s Day!</image:caption>

<image:title>Cause of the Month - February 2021 - Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month - Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month</image:title>
<image:caption>Its February! February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month so it is time for Ovary-Action. According to Ovarian Cancer Australia: "There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer, so all women need to be aware of the symptoms. The most commonly reported symptoms for ovarian cancer are: - Increased abdominal size or persistent abdominal bloating - Abdominal or pelvic (lower tummy) pain - Feeling full after eating a small amount - Needing to urinate often or urgently Additional Symptoms - Changes in bowel habits - Unexplained weight gain or loss - Excessive fatigue - Lower back pain - Indigestion or nausea - Bleeding after menopause or in-between periods - Pain during sex or bleeding after It is important to remember all the symptoms mentioned can be caused by other, less serious medical conditions. However, if you are experiencing any of these symptoms, which are persistent and troublesome, you should see your doctor. They will be able to examine you and if necessary, do further tests to find the cause of your problems. If you are not comfortable with your doctor’s diagnosis or you are still concerned about unexplained persistent symptoms, you should seek a second opinion. You know your body better than anyone else, so always listen to what your body is saying and trust your instincts."</image:caption>

<image:title>Cause of the Month - January 2021 - This is Your year! - This is Your year!</image:title>
<image:caption>2020 has been a particularly tough year for most people for various reasons. Plans put on hold, loved ones getting sick, friends getting stuck and running out of toilet paper are just some of the reasons 2020 was tough. As the new year comes around, we want to empower you! Empower you to be the best version of you. This is the time where most people are motivated to come up with resolutions and we encourage you to do the same. Sure, sometimes the motivation wanes off, but sometimes, they turned into real long term habits. Last year, Dr Jeffrey decided to follow Yoga with Adrienne's 30 day yoga journey on YouTube, 365 days later, he is still practicing yoga or meditation daily and has not missed a single day! This all happened because he wanted to spend time on his own mental health in 2020 after a very difficult 2019 studying and preparing for Fellowship exams. So for January, we are not raising awareness to any particular causes or charities, we are simply encouraging you to take on 2021 head on!</image:caption>

<image:caption>December is DecemBeard. This month, we turn our attention to Colon Cancer. Bowel Cancer Australia recommends participating in screening appropriate to your personal level of risk. Bowel cancer screening is safe and easy and can be done at home. For people at average or near average risk* of bowel cancer, Australian medical guidelines recommend screening using a faecal immunochemical test (FIT) every 2 years between ages 50-74. Screening involves collecting small samples of toilet water or poo, placing them on a card or in a container, and mailing them to a pathology laboratory for analysis. The results are then sent back to the individual and their GP. Click here to find out more.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Iron Infusion Availability: Weekdays by appointment Balanced Iron levels are important for normal function of the human body. It helps haemoglobin and red blood cells carry Oxygen in the blood. Iron deficiency can cause anaemia, lethargy and fatigue. This will impact your daily activities such as exercise and focusing on day to day school or work. This can impact a baby's growth during pregnancy. Iron can be taken orally or through an infusion. Your doctor will determine the best form of treatment with a simple blood test. Iron infusion is safe with minimal side effects in the majority of the patients. Iron infusion can take between 15 to 30 mins depending on the patient's veins. Prior to receiving the infusion, your doctor will explain general side effects. All our Iron Infusions are carried under the supervision of a general practitioner and a registered nurse. In the first consultation, we will refer you to a blood test to determine your Iron levels. If required, we will offer Iron infusion in your second visit. Bring any recent medical records which may help us with the treatment process. We have a pharmacy located conveniently next door to purchase Iron and kit. Book an appointment today by calling 02 9066 0111.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Monkey Pox Vaccine (mpox) - JYNNEOS Mpox is an infection caused by monkeypox virus. Recently, there has been a increase in case numbers of mpox globally including in Australia. Infection mostly happens from direct skin to skin or sexual activity. People at highest risk of mpox in NSW are men who have sex with men. Since January 2023, there has been an outbreak of a more severe strain of mpox in central and eastern Africa. Symptoms Symptoms usually begin 3-21 days after exposure. Some people get early symptoms such as fever or chills, headache, muscle aches and back ache, tiredness, swollen lymph nodes. Usual symptoms include rashes, pimple-like lesions or sores, particularly in areas that are hard to see such as the genitals, anus or buttocks, ulcers, lesions or sores in the mouth, rectal pain (pain in and around the anus), which may occur without a rash. People with mpox may be infectious up to 4 days before symptoms start. People with mpox are infectious until all the lesions (sores) have crusted, scabs have fallen off and a fresh layer of skin has formed underneath, any rectal pain is completely gone. Most people with mpox get better within a few weeks without needing any specific treatment. How does mpox spread Mpox in Australia is mainly spreading through sexual activity. Mpox spreads by direct skin to skin contact with rashes, blisters or sores and contact with semen and other body fluids from a person with mpox. Mpox may also spread by touching contaminated objects, such as bedding or clothes, or extended face to face contact with a person with mpox, but this is rare.
