The contraceptive implant (Implanon) is a small, flexible rod inserted under the skin of the upper arm. It releases a low dose of hormone to prevent ovulation.
The procedure is quick and performed under local anaesthetic. Some women may experience changes to their bleeding pattern, including lighter, irregular, or no periods.
