Flu Vaccines Available Now in Sydney | Protect Yourself This Season

As flu season approaches, getting vaccinated is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your health and those around you. At Botany Road Doctors clinic, we offer both government funded and private flu vaccines, making it easy for everyone in our community to stay protected.

Why is the flu vaccine important?

The flu is more than just a bad cold. It can lead to serious complications such as pneumonia, hospitalisation, and worsening of existing health conditions.

Getting vaccinated helps to:

  • Reduce your risk of getting the flu

  • Prevent severe illness and complications

  • Protect vulnerable people in the community

  • Reduce the spread of infection

Who is eligible for a Dept of Health Funded flu vaccine?

Under the National Immunisation Program, free flu vaccines are available for:

  • Children aged 6 months to under 5 years

  • Adults aged 65 years and over

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over

  • Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)

  • Patients with certain higher health risks (chronic medical conditions e.g. asthma, diabetes, heart disease, weakened immune system)

If you fall into one of these groups, your vaccine will be provided at no cost.

Private flu vaccines ($25)

If you are not eligible under the National Immunisation Program, you can still protect yourself.

We offer private flu vaccines for $25, with the consultation bulk billed.

Flu vaccines for children

We also offer options for younger patients, including a needle-free nasal spray vaccine for children aged 2–4 years (subject to availability, waitlist may apply).

When should you get vaccinated?

It’s best to get your flu vaccine before winter, as it can take up to two weeks for full protection to develop. However, it’s never too late to get vaccinated during the season.
